Want a custom painting?

I specialize in portraits (humans and animals alike) but I’m also open for landscape and abstract artwork. Head on over to the contacts page, leave me your name, email, and a description of your request. Please try to include:

For acrylic paintings:

  • Canvas size.
  • Regular or Gallery style canvases.
  • What type of painting you’d like and what sort of style (if you’d like it a bit more traditionally realistic or more like the colourful contemporary pieces I have). It’s helpful if you can refer to any of my past work’s style that you’d like me to emulate.
  • For portrait paintings: how many figures will be included and if there is any background, how much of the figure will be in the portrait (for example: head & shoulders, head to hip with or without hands, or full body).
  • Any preferred colour palettes.
  • When you will need the painting finished by.
  • Where you are from, so I can figure out shipping details/price.

For digital illustrations/paintings:

  • File size and resolution (usually 300 dpi is good for printed work).
  • The required final file type (if you need jpgs, pdfs, raw illustrator/photoshop files).
  • If you want the work printed, what type of paper you’d like it printed on (paper or card stock), and what size.
  • When you will need the piece or printed work finished by.

I will also need high quality photo reference(s) sent by e-mail to katceeart@gmail.com

After assessing the info provided, I can then calculate, based on the amount of time/work, the total price for the commission.

Note: Reduced pricing is applied if you just need me to reproduce an image from a high quality reference photo.

What are the next steps after I request a commission?

If you agree to collaborate on commissioning me for a piece, I will send you a contract with the terms and conditions, which I will need signed and emailed back to me. I will also need a 50% down payment (in Canadian dollars) of the overall total price, which can be sent by email transfer or paid in cash.

This ensures a commitment to contract, as well as cover any material/supplies, and work on the initial rough drafts for the final concept (which I will further discuss below).

…Okay, so I’ve signed the contract and paid the down payment, what’s next?

After the signed contract and down payment are received (preferably via email transfer), turnaround for initial draft(s) will usually be 5-8 days depending on complexity of concept. Once both parties settle on a final concept, work on the final painting will be started and an estimated date of completion will also be provided.

What happens once the commission is finished?

The remaining payment is due once the provided image of the finished work (sent by email) is deemed satisfactory to the client, who has then 30 days to pay remaining fees.

Clients are then free to receive their finished piece or raw digital files (for digital illustrations) after remaining payment is paid. Finished paintings will be delivered in person if the destination is within the Greater Toronto Area. Otherwise, extra shipping fees (which we will have already discussed in the initial phase) will be applied, and your painting shipped to you via Canada Post.

Payments can be made in cash, email transfer, and PayPal.
